Launching Vans' lines

Vans is a global brand that celebrates music, art, action sports and street culture. Their famous shoes are purchased worldwide and are a true part of key cultural moments in their customer’s life.

Brief

To help them launch their Spring and Winter lines in Canada, Altavia CloudRaker (North America) had to come up with a way to express their brand with a Canadian twist to enhance brand equity in the eyes of the customers.

Solutions

To capture the kind of authenticity and spontaneity that says “Vans,” Altavia CloudRaker purposely avoided the practices of typical fashion shoots and instead cast real people for each setup, including Canadian icons such as musicians, photographers, film and magazine editors and chefs. We then photographed them in their natural work environments, achieving deep authenticity to reflect Vans brand values.

Results

The result was two integrated campaigns that utilised all marketing channels and connected on a local level with Vans fans. From Vans’ social media to website and POS, as well as FootLocker and other partners’ channels, we created custom videos and photos, interviews and stories to showcase that even when going north of the 49th parallel, Vans can stay true to its roots.
