Fragrance Foodstuff needed to re-imagine its retail presence within travel retail to capture international tourists and overseas-bound locals. Altavia designed a scalable concept featuring a centerpiece fresh bak kwa display and quick-selection gifting zones built for high-traffic transit hubs.
Context
Fragrance, an iconic Singaporean heritage food brand, sought to redefine its presence within the high-traffic travel retail sector. The challenge was to create a gift destination tailored to international tourists seeking authentic local souvenirs as well as Singaporeans purchasing gifts for overseas travel. The concept needed to bridge Singapore’s rich culinary heritage with a sleek, contemporary design language engineered for fast-paced airport environments.
Our ambition
We set out to design a travel retail concept that balances local heritage with modern architectural efficiency. Our goal was to create a compelling gifting destination that stimulates appetite, drives foot traffic, and allows time-sensitive travelers to select and purchase products without friction.
Our approach
A scalable retail architecture bridging culinary heritage with modern travel retail efficiency.
Altavia provided travel retail strategy, spatial design, customer experience journey mapping, and visual merchandising. We developed flexible shop formats adaptable to both full-line boutique shop spaces and compact island kiosks across transit terminals:
- Built a design identity featuring clean architectural lines, refined finishes, and modern retail lighting suited for travel hubs.
- Positioned a live, brightly lit fresh bak kwa display as the central hero focal point, flanked by structured displays of pre-packaged goods to drive foot traffic.
- Engineered dedicated, highly visible gifting feature zones to enable time-sensitive travelers to quickly browse, select, and purchase ready-to-gift packages.
