Delvaux, the world’s oldest luxury leather goods brand founded in 1829 in Belgium, has recently opened a new flagship store in Beijing’s Wang Fu Central shopping mall. The store’s design, a collaboration between Milan’s Vudafieri-Saverino Partners and Delvaux CEO Jean Marc Loubier, blends Belgian style with local cultural influences, creating a unique shopping experience.
The store spans 130 square meters and is divided into distinct zones, including a welcoming VIC (Very Important Customer) room colored in imperial red, a tribute to Chinese culture. The interiors are a masterclass in luxury, featuring Calacatta Oro marble, refined brass details, and bespoke furniture that echo Belgium’s rich architectural heritage. The foyer, inspired by the Maison du Peuple in Brussels, showcases an Art Nouveau-inspired ceiling, while corridors and the VIC room display elements reflective of Belgian culture, such as wallpapers depicting Brussels’ Grand Place.
In the Delvaux Bar, customers can enjoy the company’s iconic Flemish wardrobe, reimagined in a modern style, and furnishings that encourage interaction and a communal atmosphere. The store’s design incorporates Art Deco and modernist influences on its façade, drawing on elements like the Crystal Palace and the works of Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
This blend of traditional craftsmanship and innovative design underscores Delvaux’s commitment to maintaining its heritage while engaging with a global audience, offering a space that not only displays its products but also tells the brand’s storied history through every meticulously crafted detail.
